
The mentoring program at IILM was initiated in 2009 and ever since it has been one of the most appreciated services at IILM by the student. It drives many students to seek admission at IILM.
The Program engages students, faculty, staff, and business professionals in an environment that promotes academic excellence, leadership development, and career exploration for students. The program supports students’ continuous growth and development, the transfer of knowledge, and the building of personal and professional capabilities.
A student enrolled at IILM is assigned a faculty mentor during his/her two year stay in the institute. During this period the mentor is a friend, philosopher and guide to the student .
Mentoring at IILM is a process; the role of the mentor changes as the needs of the student evolve over a period of two years.
Guidance for personal development: When the student joins the campus the mentor helps the new joinee to adapt to the campus life. The mentor provides guidance for personal development, identifies mentees strength, attributes, improvement areas, work on them and set short and long term goals. This period also involves developing an understanding of each other and identifying a way of interacting with one another on a regular basis.
Guidance for summer internship: As the first year comes to an end, the mentor guides the mentee in making the decision on purusing his summer internship program . Mentor prepares the mentee for the internship and provides guidance along with the industry mentor to help him/her complete the research on identified topic.
On returning to the campus after the summer internship the mentor is closely involved with the mentee to help in understanding his/her ability and selecting subjects/electives and area of specialisation.
Guidance for final placement: Mentor and mentee work in close association to help the student seek a job. The mentor plays an important role in helping the student prepare his Resume, prepare for group discussions ,interviews, various specific preparation with regard to job opportunities and counsel mentees on which companies to apply .
